A message from our Chairman, Gerald Kenneally

Hello friends of ATLAS — Welcome to our September/October 2023 update.

“Your friends do not forget you”

Business sponsor for this month:  Mathew Whitley

Matt, an insurance broker, has generously paid for the Public Liability Insurance and other Policies required to run a Charity. Thank You!!

Spring has arrived, well I think it has given the strange weather we have had (Mother Nature).

Friends, I apologise for not circulating a September ATLAS update. We value your support. Time got away from me. There was a lot happening.

As you may have seen from the September Newsletter, the container landed in Timor. This will be our last container as the cost of freight from Sydney to Dili would be better spent on the Timorese economy, supporting local businesses as well as students, nurses and teachers.

I would like to acknowledge two ATLAS supporters who have been called home to God:

Father John Alt was a great supporter of ATLAS and attended many of our functions. Father John died peacefully on October 27th. To his family and brother priests, we offer our sincere condolences and prayers.

As I notified our ATLAS Committee of Father John’s death, Sister Susan Connelly informed me of the death of Tom Hall. Tom was a great supporter of ATLAS and of the Timorese people. He worked tirelessly in an endeavour to repatriate the remains of Australian Soldiers from 1942 to Australia.

Tom’s story will be in our next newsletter. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom’s wife, Marie, and their family at this sad time.

Our recent Trivia afternoon at Dooleys Regents Park Club was a great success. An enjoyable afternoon was had by all who attended. Special thanks to our Trivia Master, Kirk Peters, who provided some great questions and involved participants in fun games.

Congratulations to the Trivia winners and Raffle Prizes winners. Thank you to those who generously donated the prizes.

As always, we thank you for your continuing support of ATLAS and keeping the promise “Your friends do not forget you”.

Till next time… Obrigada.
