Australian Timor-Leste Advancement Society
ATLAS sprang from the seeds that were sown in World War 2 when the Timorese people aided the Australian soldiers fighting against the Japanese on the island. Paddy Kenneally was instrumental in fighting for Timorese independence, a better deal for the Timorese Sea oil and for individual Timorese needing a better start in life.
From his work, ATLAS was born.
World War II East Timor
Australia’s involvement with East Timor began in the 1940’s. For 14 months the Timorese befriended and supported the Australians.
ATLAS was founded in memory of John Patrick (Paddy) Kenneally of the Australian 2/2nd Independent Company.
Assist the East Timorese people as they lift themselves out of poverty, through supporting education, training and job creation activities.
