Chris went with Father Adriano Ola and Department of Agriculture officials to inspect a piggery site which is on a large section of Diocesan land at Hera. Father Adrian would like to develop a piggery here to breed and sell pigs for profit, which would fund the social welfare projects he is responsible for, as well as train and employ people in the local community. The land has an existing fishery and they have just excavated another fishery pond.
They also visited a new piggery built by a farmer on adjoining land. It is obvious that Timorese people’s skills are improving rapidly, judging by these initiatives.
